Responsibilities of the Education and Culture Sector

The attributions of this sector are:

  • Representing Mozambique before Portuguese public institutions and others dedicated to the promotion of education, science and culture;
  • Promote scientific and cultural exchange between Mozambique and Portugal;
  • Provide support to Mozambican students, in particular scholarship holders under the agreements between the two States, for their enrollment and better insertion in higher and technical-professional education in Portugal;
  • Promote the dissemination of Mozambican culture in Portugal;
  • Manage the Embassy website.

In 1985, the Republic of Mozambique and the Portuguese Republic signed Cooperation Agreements in the fields of Education, Teaching, Scientific Research and Staff Training.

Under the Agreements, Mozambican citizens attend higher and technical-professional courses in Portugal. The two countries also cooperate in the field of scientific research and training of trainers in various areas of knowledge.

The Embassy of the Republic of Mozambique in Portugal is responsible for processing the application processes and admission of Mozambican students to Portuguese Universities under the Special Regimes.

The Embassy is also responsible for monitoring the training of scholarship students from the Mozambican State in the Portuguese Republic.
